When Tim Berners-Lee envisioned the Web, he imagined a system of and for people—open, free, and powered by millions of independent computers.

Instead, that open network slowly consolidated—and now a small group of tech oligarchs mediate most human interaction online.

They harvest attention with infinite scroll, push-notification loops, FOMO triggers, beautified filters, and artificial dopamine rewards. They sell "connection", but push addiction instead. All terms are negotiable—except maximizing profits.

Years ago, as Facebook Platform developers, we felt the pressure of this system firsthand, long before it became mainstream.
Promises were broken. Algorithms shifted. Apps died overnight. Whatever we built wasn't really ours—it belonged to the platform.
The pain of this experience shed light on the truth hiding in plain sight: power was concentrating, and the open Web was slowly giving way to digital feudalism.

So we set out to build an alternative that preserved the Web's open and free values.

What emerged was the Qbix Platform—an open-source set of tools for communities, not social media, and not a destination for addiction. Really Ours is the first vendor of this platform.
